Deciding on which theme to use

You can choose from a few themes to establish the look and feel of your place.

Before you begin

You must have manager or owner access to a place to create a theme or customize an existing theme.

About this task

Choose a theme from those available in the Theme gallery as follows:
  1. Click Customize for an existing place.
  2. Click Choose a Theme and then pick a theme in the Theme Gallery.
    • The Quickr™ Standard Theme is the default for the Standard place for Teams. Creating a place from the standard theme will give you the 8.5 Web client and user experience with all the latest features, functionality, and capabilities such as Library uploads, customizable lists, What's New feed, the ability to overlay your Lotus® Quickr calendar onto your Lotus Notes® calendar, and a new browser-based rich text editor that provides full fidelity of formatting from editors such as Microsoft® Word or Lotus Symphony™ when copy/paste is used.
    • The Quickr 8.2 theme provides the 8.2 Web client user experience and includes the new rich text editor. It can be useful if maintaining continuity with existing 8.2-based places is important for you.
    • Any custom themes created by your organization and made publicly available for use for place members.
Note: Places using themes based on the Quickr 8.2 or older theme should switch to the Quickr Standard Theme base to take advantage of the many new theme features and benefit from the added functionality not available in the older themes. Themes based on the Quickr 8.5 code can provide a much richer user experience and improved server performance and scalability by orders of magnitude.
  3. Select a theme by clicking it in the list.

Customizing a theme

Before you begin

A customized theme appears in the list of available themes in the Theme Gallery. Creating a new theme requires the use of Microsoft Internet Explorer with ActiveX enabled.

Procedure

  1. Click Customize > Custom Themes and then click Create a Custom Theme.
  2. Provide a theme title and add a description that will be meaningful to potential users of the theme since this appears next to the theme's entry in the Theme Gallery.
  3. If you want your new custom theme to use all the features of the Quickr 8.5 theme, select Check if this is a Quickr 8.5 style theme using Quickr widgets. If you do not want to base it on the Quickr Standard theme, skip to the next step. The Quickr standard theme will use the Lotus Quickr 8.5 client code base exclusively.
    1. Click Browse to pick a style sheet, page layout, list folder layout, and edit layout for the theme from existing versions.
    2. Select an image to be used from the Themes gallery.
  4. Quickr 8.2 theme–based place only: In the Styles and Basic Layout and Folder Layouts sections, click Browse to find an existing file on your computer, or click Generate to generate the file based on the other files that you supply.
    • A Style Sheet (.css) file defines the place's visual style (fonts, colors, and so on) for all layouts.
    • A Page Layout (.htm) file defines the layout of pages when being read.
    • An Edit Layout (.htm) file defines the layout of pages when being edited.
    • A List Folder Layout (.htm) file defines the layout of list and discussion folders.
    • A Headlines Folder Layout (.htm) file defines the layout of headlines folders.
    • A Slideshow Folder Layout (.htm) file defines the layout of slideshow folders.
  5. Click Next to complete the theme creation and see the new theme in the Theme Gallery.
  6. Click Choose Themes to Show to select whether to display all themes including both standard and custom themes in the Theme gallery or to show only custom themes.
  7. Click Next to save your theme gallery display decision.
  8. At any time you can delete a theme you have created by opening the theme in edit mode and clicking Delete Theme.
