After downloading the IBM® IBM Lotus® Quickr™ connectors installation
file, qkrconn.exe, use the connector wizard to install and connect
to a Lotus Quickr server to
gain access to its places.
About this task
Check with your administrator for the Web address of a
Lotus Quickr server or servers
you can use. You might have access only to link to existing files
in places, or you might also have access to save files in places.
Procedure
- Be sure to close down the applications you are installing
a connector for. For example, close down Lotus Notes® before installing
the connector for Lotus
Notes.
- Navigate to the directory where you saved the executable
file qkrconn.exe.
- Double-click the qkrconn.exe file to launch
the installation wizard and select a language for installation.
- Follow the prompts from the installation wizard to connect Lotus Quickr to the applications
you use. Be sure to select each connector as needed. Decide whether
to install the simple application or all its sub-features also. Click Next.
- Click Finish when installation completes.
- Connect to a Lotus Quickr server
by adding a place as follows:
- For Microsoft® Windows® Explorer, open Windows Explorer and click .
- For Microsoft Office/Outlook,
click Add Places in either the Places menu
bar or the Places task pane's dropdown menu (Outlook 2007). This starts
the Add Places wizard. The first time you open Outlook after installing
the connector, you will see the Lotus Quickr Tools menu bar. Microsoft Outlook 2007 users
will see the Lotus Quickr tab
with a toolbar and the Places task pane.
- For Lotus
Notes click in the sidebar.
- For Lotus Sametime® connector,
click in the sidebar. If you use Lotus Sametime as a standalone
application, the Lotus Quickr Places
shelf is added to the Lotus Sametime window.
If your Lotus Sametime implementation
is embedded in Lotus
Notes,
the Places shelf appears in the Lotus
Notes sidebar.
The first time you open your Lotus
Notes mail client
after installing the Lotus Sametime connector,
you need to use the Add Places Wizard to populate
the Places shelf with Lotus Quickr places
you have access to and want to collaborate on with others.
- In the Server field, type the server name, such as http://your.quickr.server.com.
- Select an Authentication type of Basic, Integrated
Windows Authentication, or Siteminder (for
Siteminder Basic, not Siteminder Form) if available in the Authentication
dropdown list and as instructed by your administrator.
- In the User ID field, type the user
ID that you use to log in to the Lotus Quickr server.
- In the Password field, type the
password that you use to log in to the Lotus Quickr server. To save the
password for easier log in during future sessions, click the Remember
this password option.
- Click Next. A list of available
places loads and is displayed. Places that have already been added
to your connectors appear checked-off in the list.
- Click Finish to complete setup.
- To set the temporary folder where documents are stored
before being transferred to the Lotus Quickr place, highlight a
place name and click Preferences.
- Click OK to confirm your settings.
When you save the connection settings, a connection is established,
and the list of places you selected is shown as follows: An icon with
the place name or names is added under the Places folder in Windows Explorer. Places that
you unchecked in the Add Places window are removed from Windows Explorer.
- In Microsoft Windows Explorer, the list displays
under the Places folder. If more places are available on the server,
you can add them later by right-clicking in Windows Explorer and clicking Add
Places. While you are connected to the Lotus Quickr server, documents
that you update are automatically uploaded to the place, and the upload
status displays in the Places Connectors Monitor.
- In Lotus Notes,
the list displays in the Lotus
Notes client sidebar panel after you click the Places icon.
- In Lotus Sametime the list displays after you click
the Places icon.
You can now work with files and documents stored in a Lotus Quickr place from your desktop
application. Documents appear in a folder-file hierarchy under the
appropriate place icon. If you enable the Show Views preference,
you can also see any personal views that were created in a place,
along with Drafts Views and Shared
Views. The Private Drafts view
shows all drafts you have originated. The Checked Out by
Me view shows all documents you currently have checked
out in the place. Place components such as the Home page, Discussion
forum, Tasks, and Calendar never appear in the Places list. Only Libraries
and Lists display. The Index will appear if the connector preferences Show
Views is enabled.
